Two Toes Tom is a legend in the farmer community along the Florida line near Florala, and it's known for it's red eyes and montrous size. To many Tom is just a legend, but foot prints of an aligator with only two toes similar to Tom was spotted in 1980s. He got all his toes except for two on the left foot taken off by a steel trap. Therefore, after a death of a mule, cow and several local women he will leave unusual footprints at the scene leading to the swamps. In the legend of Two Toed Tom, a farmer waged war with Tom for twenty years for killing his mule and then later killing his granddaughter. The farmer, named Pap Haines, tried to kill Tom with dynamites, but it didn't work. Tom was then seen throughtout Sand Hammock Lake, a large body of water near Esto in northern Holmes County, Boynton Island on the Choctawahtchee, and other places in southeast Alabama. In these areas, Cattle and livestock disappeared from farms and the countryside was generally terrorized by this new threat that had crossed the line from Alabama. If these footprints continue to spawn up then Two Toed Tom is still at large.
